Biologická pravda, kterou nám Wells poskytl, by zpomalila setkání s mimozemšťany ve Star Treku nebo Farscape, kde se neohrožení dobrodruzi málokdy starají o místní jazyky, natož aby dýchali místní vzduch.

Mimozemšťané nás napadli, protože mají zálibu v lidské krvi vysávané z živých bytostí (jak přišli na to, že jim chutnáme, není jasné, ale i tak je z toho dramatické divadlo). Pokud jste Wellse nečetli, musíte to udělat.

Wells vytvořil přelomovou knihu - je to přemýšlivý společenský komentátor, průkopník toho, co dělá SF intelektuálně přitažlivou, a také zatraceně dobrý vypravěč.
